Tofu Sandwich

Tofu Sandwich

Ingredients:

Olive oil (1 tablespoon).
1 pack of tofu (anything from medium to firm tofu, but definitely not silken).
1 small onion (any colour of onion will do).
• Two slices of bread.
• A shake from a bottle of hot sauce (preferably sriracha or cholula, though any will do).

Method:

This is the tutorial recipe used to teach the basics of the app. Despite its simplicity it is, however, fairly delicious. Serves 1.

1: Put a frying pan onto medium to medium-high heat. Add a little olive oil, about a tablespoons worth.

2: Cut a half a centimeter or quarter inch thick slice of tofu and dry it well between two paper towels. Squeeze out all the moisture. Then, add to the pan.

3: After a couple of minutes the bottom should be browned. Carefully flip the tofu.

4: Put two pieces of sliced bread on a plate and spread butter/olive oil/margarine (or equivalent) over one slice. Once browned on both sides, place the tofu on the buttered slice of bread. Put the pan back on the stove and turn off the heat.

5: Chop one fairly small onion roughly. Put the pan back on medium-high heat and add the chopped onion.

6: Stir them occasionally until they are softened and sweet, and maybe a little browned.

7: Top the tofu with the onions. Add a hot sauce of your choice (I would recommend sriracha or cholula) and close the sandwich.

8: Dig in!
