• A 240g/8.5oz can of chickpeas.
• 2 cloves of garlic.
• The juice of 2.5 limes.
• 4 tablespoons of water.
• 1/2 a teaspoon of cumin.
• 1/2 a teaspoon of chilli powder (cayenne, preferably).
• Salt and pepper.
• 1 tablespoon of tahini.
• 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.
This is a slight twist on your standard hummus that uses lime juice instead of lemon juice. It comes out exceptionally smooth and satisfying.
1: Take a 240g or 8.5 ounce can of chickpeas and drain and rinse them thoroughly.
2: Add those chickpeas into a blender or grinder.
3: Take two cloves of garlic, peel and roughly chop them, then add them to the blender.
4: Squeeze in the juice of 2 and a half limes and 4 tablespoons of water.
5: Add 1/2 a teaspoon of cumin, 1/2 a teaspoon of cayenne chilli powder, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
6: Now finally add one tablespoon of tahini and two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.
7: Blend until smooth.
Give it a taste. If it’s a little bland it may need the juice of another ½ a lime mixed in.
